We already do. Governments and utilities already pay for most of the cost of renewable energy. The reason it's not happening quicker is because it's impossible.

It took time for everyone to be able to fly.

IIRC you are a fan of Tesla. Things take time. Most thought it would never be profitable.

I am not saying it will never happen. I'm sure it will happen, but it will be a slow progression for technology to advance to a point where they take over oil and NG.

The issues we have today are a direct result of environmentalist groups fighting the production and transportation of US and Canadian oil and NG. They have 1 goal and don't care if the world blows up around them, as long as the US produces less oil and NG.

That is one side. Then you have those that do not care if we pollute the whole world as long as they make a buck. This has been shown to be true over and over.

There are 2 logical extremes. You can disagree with either or both, but at least they make sense for the purpose they're trying to achieve.

1) Those who don't care about the environment and only care that there be more oil and gas.
2) Those who are more worried about the environment than prices.

Then you have the leftists/environmentalists who get the worst of both worlds, prices are high and we have more pollution from coal and oil as well as death and destruction thanks to the west's dependence on oil from our adversaries. Please explain to me what good came out of The EU reducing its own oil and gas production to be replaced with Russian oil and gas?

Call it whatever you want, but the war in domestic oil and gas by (often Russian backed) environmentalists in The US and EU are the reason we are in this situation.
