Spirit usage fee (buy at airport to save) inconsistent.

(1/1)

ExGingi:
I needed to purchase tickets to FLL for a rather large number of people.

With online fares showing $22.99 "usage fee" I was looking at saving over $250 for each direction, which made a trip to LGA for the purchase potentially worthwhile.

However, while those savings showed up on the trip to FLL resulting in $30 tickets. When trying to price the return the prices at the airport were HIGHER (significantly) than the online prices. Even trying to price one seat resulted in the higher fare at the airport.

Anyone have any idea what is going on?

chookshook:
This has been documented somewhat. Google a bit. In short there removing certain fees and adding others. Not a lawyer but it seems illegal and it's a matter of time until someone pushes enough for them to stop.

Can you book spirit flights at the airport with a card number, not the physical card?
