I do not want to derail this thread. I got worked up since a few people I know personally were hurt because people made things up.

You may be very right and I agree with you. My point is not "how much money is taken" the point is that people did things that should not have been done.

Regarding the Karlin tragedy, I had a spam email already BEFORE Shavuos in the US, raising money for victims. Thankfully, when I clicked the link Motzei Shavuos in EY, the page was already down.
Unfortunately, there are also those who try to raise money before verifying anything first...

That campaign you are correct about. If you were referring to that one the whole time I ask you mechilla.

Just to explain:

Campaign 1 was someone that decided to open a campaign in the US before yom tom - NOT verified and was taken down right away.

Campaign 2 was on the chessed fund - Verified and started right after yom tov (Started at the request of the family)
Campaign 3 was on an Israeli site - Verified and started a day later (This was started by his friends at the request of an uncle not knowing that the family started another one)

Apparently we're not talking about the same thing, because I just checked 2 minutes ago and the campaign is still not marked as verified.

I agree with you, I was very disappointed when I found out how common this way in many kinds of fundraising.

You are correct, sorry for derailing. It seams I missed the point that @yandmk was saying.

What he was saying was that the people in this campaign are not making a penny and they are giving selflessly from their own time.

In addition all money that is given out here is done with thought and with a cheshbon.
