If I remember correctly, the IRS is supposed to send out letters at year's end showing a list of payments.
Yes. It's also possible they'll still catch up before year end, as they're constantly shifting things each month.
Perfect, thank you!
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

I hope they do since it’s a real mess has anyone seen this anywhere else?

To answer my own question from IRS FAQ

Q A11. Will the IRS send me a letter of my advance Child Tax Credit payments to help me claim the correct Child Tax Credit amount on my 2021 return next year? (added June 14, 2021)
A11. Yes. In January 2022, the IRS will send you Letter 6419 to provide the total amount of advance Child Tax Credit payments that were disbursed to you during 2021. Please keep this letter regarding your advance Child Tax Credit payments with your tax records. You may need to refer to this letter when you file your 2021 tax return during the 2022 tax filing season.

For more information regarding this letter and how to reconcile your advance Child Tax Credit payments with your Child Tax Credit on your 2021 return, see Topic H: Reconciling Your Advance Child Tax Credit Payments on Your 2021 Tax Return.

I opted out of advance payments. Wife got a check for $188. Shouldn't she receive $150?

Logged into my own and DW's IRS Enhanced Child Tax Credit portal.

Amount is lower (still can't figure out rhyme or reason, but maybe they're adjusting the overpayment from Sept and spreading it over 3 months. I didn't check). My account says direct deposit, while DW's account says paper check, even though Direct Deposit information is there.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Every other month their system glitches out and sends checks instead of DDs to a few million households.
Other possibility is that it was updated after the deadline for this month's payment.

It was actually updated in the first half of September. DW's half was received as a paper check in September. Prior to that got direct deposited for the full amount (prior to September DW didn't have her own login).

I got triple this month than what I usually (and what I'm supposed to)get.

@cgr is this just a regular mistake that they'll sort out? Or did they perhaps prepay the rest of the year?

TIA

Everything will be reconciled at tax time.

No one knows what other errors they will make between now and then.

They seem to have made an error by me too. They gave me the exact amount I was supposed to get each time. #Strange  :P

First I've heard of this situation, I really can't figure out why that would happen

Ok, I made the calculations.
The first 2 month's payments were each $150 less than they should have been.
The third month's payment was $626 more than the previous 2 months.
So even if they were back-paying the missing $150 x 2, the third month should be $450 more not $626 more.
Now this month's payment was $208 less than the first 2 months, which is $358 less than it should be.
So even if they were clawing back the extra $176 from last month, it should have been $182 less than what it should be not $358 less.
Really, really strange.

Irrelevant. Make another account for the other spouse.
Thanks.
After making an account for the other spouse the full amount comes as a direct deposit, although it still comes as 2 separate payments.
