Summer Months have a much higher probability of rain, I've seen reports of almost non stop rain for a week, so YMMV

BOB has a 180 degree opposite weather, May- September has the least rain

Not a bad idea

BOB is going to have better weather in June, but it's also peak season, which means planes and resorts will be full and award availability scarcer.

Whereas June is low season for MLE with all its attendant benefits and downsides.

Read your MLE trip report and part of me wants to ignore the chances of there being rain just so that I can get that Etihad flight experience that you had

Went in July, and besides for rain the day we landed, it was great the other 4 days.

So maybe I'll do BOB if I can only go in the summer. Why does it seem that so many more people have gone to MLE than BOB? Any specific reason?

MLE is 11.5 times easier with points.

BOB is a PITA with points, especially in the Summer months

For us Israeli's, MLE is nice and 'quick'.
