So maybe I'll leave pre-weekend, go to a city in SE Asia for Shabbas (maybe CMB), and then try to dart over to MLE on Saturday night or Sunday.

Might be prudent to find out what Chabad of Sri Lanka is like (I have no idea) and whether there are decent hotels close by) before deciding to go that route.

Damaxer91 said a few posts earlier that it's a very nice Chabad. I checked online and they also have shabbas meals which is a big plus.

I'll check the hotels in CMB around the Chabad if and when I get a workable routing there.

I was shabbes in the maldives at our hotel. In was a amazing relaxing shabbes. Eating on our porch on the owb, hearing the waves, it was really amazing.

Was the minyan in your OWB or do they have one especially for shabbos minyan?

Not true AFAIK. Would require booking 2 separate awards and overnighting both ways in AUH.

Just got off the phone with them. She was willing to book me a rt from CDG to MLE on Etihad with one stop in AUH (for 2 hrs and 20 min).

Again, I'm talking about the direct JFK/ORD-AUH-MLE flights.

JFK-LHR-CDG-AUH-MLE and then 2 more flights and a boat transfer...sounds more like a nightmare.
