Ha, I know, I know. All I can say is that I read the 773 is lie-flat. Can't speak for the service or the friendliness for non-muslims.

Doing a NYC-ZRH-DOH-MLE route gets you a great plane on NYC-ZRH, but then you're stuck with QR's crappier planes ZRH-DOH-MLE.

Not sure by suggesting MUC if you mean to take an LH plane... if so, are you recommending F?

You're do realize you're talking about a boatride and then 5 or 6 flight segments to get home. I don't care if you're in a private jet you will be utterly wiped after that.
Not that I wouldn't do it myself in my pre-kids days, but it's not for the feint of heart.

Yeah, we'll just have to make do. I've been looking for three solid days (in addition to the weeks prior), having almost the perfect booking, only to lose it by the time I call to put it on hold, etc etc.

With this itin, I don't have to pay close-in fees of $300, it's all in business and first, and the entire travel time isn't that terrible (especially with an overnight in AUH at the new PH). Anyway you slice it MLE is a PITA to get to. Take into account award availability and that PITA gets multiplied, oh, by about 1 bajillion.

We're both young and healthy, B'H. No time better than the present!

a) stay at the Hyatt and hope for upgrade,
b) stay at the Hyatt and pay for confirmed upgrade, or
c) find another hotel that has OWB for about $5-600 a night

Pretty sure we'll end up at the Hilton Maldives Iru Fushi. I can get the employee rate of 25-30% off.

Plus side:

I am HHonors Gold which gets certain activities like snorkeling and fishing comp'd.
Jacuzzi on the deck.

Down side:

No private pool.

Oh well.

Transfer is $500/pp, but the upside is its only a 40 min sea plane ride to the hotel vs 60 min plane ride +30-40 min boat ride for PH.

The OWB will end up costing around $4-500/nt.
