Patronizing
« on: July 10, 2022, 12:37:42 PM »
Is it just me or do others feel that many "Chassidishe" Chassidim tend to Patronize non Chasidishe/Heimishe.

This here https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=127683.msg2604693#msg2604693 reminded me of this, when he says "I should stand up for you" etc;. Now, I may be wrong in this case, though it definitely did sound patronizing to me.

Thoughts?

In this context, it would be said to any person with the same circumstances. You just don't seem to understand the lingo used in normal conversations.

This interviewer can be very annoying for other reasons, but I might say the same exact thing.

how about when they're visiting another city and ask a local where the synagogue is and what time they pray

As opposed to "shul" and "daven"?

Never seen that, but that would come from a mistaken perception of English lingo used in different places. No way patronizing.

Do you carry a chip on your shoulders?

The second half of this post was unnecessary (and uncalled for).
