Oh for sure - LinkedIn has good uses; I even got my current job through LinkedIn.

Yet somehow every time I open LinkedIn I crack up...

- the selfie videos sitting in the car talking about some deep sounding high school motivational nonsense
- the highly personal posts about how many times they pooped that day
- the inane brainless banter in the comments; where frum men and women who wouldn't even make eye contact in real life just shoot the breeze
- the highly controversial posts where it seems like they're really trying hard to alienate as many potential clients/employees/employers as possible
- how someone with 14 months in an industry calls themselves a Director of XYZ (C level positions are when they get 19 months experience)
- and other hilarities that I can't think of at the moment

In a sentence, frum people decided to use LinkedIn as a kosher Facebook.
Sums it up well :)

Seriously guys I'm desperate to hire. I have spoke to so many people. I'm not being cheap.  Any tips on how to find a good employee without paying $5000 for a "recruiter"?
$5k sounds rich, but if your business is at the stage to hire an employee, and $5k is an additional cost you'll need to spend for that, that'll be the difference of hiring or not?

Posting on DDF is cheaper.  I guess next step is DDMS

But if you get an employee off DDF, you'll have to contend with his/her addition to surf online forums for hours. DDMS is a safer bet...

Are you willing to train someone that doesn't have bookkeeping or female experience?

My experience is that the money I pay to IZN is well worth it since they do a much better job than I can of figuring out who makes the most sense for my office.

What an ambiguous post (from the OP) - it's meaningless without context.

Are you posting this to exhibit wage inflation?

I posted it as an extension of a convo in this thread - paying employees based on COL and candidates expecting pay based on COL. I think the poll options aren’t written well but the results surprised me. Someone not working for less than 150k didn’t surprise me.

Ah gotcha. That OP post is misleading - he's a recruiter. So it's quite common (and useful) to speak openly with a recruiter about your salary expectations and why you expect that. Obviously this isn't something the employee tells a potential employer - who should be paying based on the worth the employee will provide.

Don’t think it’s misleading. The candidate “noted that his minimum salary must be above $150k”. That isn’t just high expectations, that is pricing himself out of most (if not all) jobs with a firm minimum.

Why? We have no idea what his profession or level of experience are.

The fact he’s asking 150k based on COL in this job market means he ain’t worth it based on experience or performance alone.
