removal from any DNR list
« on: May 22, 2021, 06:43:04 PM »
Hi
I'm happy to let you know that a client of mine got himself off the DNR list by doing the following:
He was on Avis's DNR list. He wrote to their customer service department requesting that they delete all his details from the GDPR records. It took him two months to get a final confirmation that they had removed all information, but this past week, just two days following receipt of the deletion, he went to Avis in Frankfurt Airport and received a car without any problems.

Hope this helps anyone facing similar issues

Am I the only one that read the subject and thought, "that's the issue with signing a DNR, when you regret it, your hardly in a state to undo it"

Did he make a new profile online with Avis, or just walked in?
I remember hearing that outside of the US, it's easier to rent, being on the DNR list, as each location isn't as interconnected as they are in the US.
If they allowed him to rent through his profile, then it would seem like he would be able to rent in the states too.

In this case, he just walked in. But I don't see it being an issue to make a new profile. By law, they had to literally delete every single record of your existence from their server, so unless you are in some local manager's bad books, there is no reason why such a 'reset' wouldn't work anywhere.

This seems a little hard to believe.  Surely there is some kind of statute of limitations just like attorneys/doctors/banks must maintain records for 7 years?

I’ve been renting in Europe for a while being on hertz DNR no proof there not to argue with the concept it prob does work. Hertz happens to be an easier one of the DNRs to work around in general for those in need…
