TD bank closed my uncles account with money still in it. He has exhausted all options trying to get this money. Does anyone have any recommendations as too what to do?
He opened the account online, reason why they closed it was because he didn't verify himself at a branch. (Bec he lives overseas which is why he wanted the online account in the 1st place)

No. They have no interest in helping him. Branch claims it's a back office thing, customer service says to go to a branch.
Phone support basically says no one has authority to help him with this. Branch could care less as they have no reason to.

He should go down to a branch and bring documents proving who he is and try to sort things out.
Over the phone he won't accomplish anything

File a CFPB complaint. Will probably help in this situation.

Did this as well. They don't seem to care because he opened the account online...

I have found that just mentioning CFPB can get the right person to suddenly appear.

Have the same thing now with BOFA, they closed 7 business accounts and froze the money, it’s been now over 2 weeks and they say the account is in the process of closing and the money will be mailed to me as soon as the closure is done. Go figure.

I have this with BOFA as well. Finally account was closed but they are saying that some of the funds are not mine and they say they are going to send the wire back to the sender.
It is now 4 weeks but they didn’t sent it yet.

Can a business do a CFBP as well?

I would do a FDIC complaint. I think you'll get a faster response than CFPB

Update: it worked! Someone got it touch with him from USFO CARES Complaint Team. After several emails and going to branch twice they cut him a check. He is thinking about filing a class action lawsuit. Apparently 30 other guys on redit also had same issue
