According to people knowledgeable in kashrus, it's not a problem.
The casks give color, not taste, to the scotch.

and downright wrong "According to people knowledgeable in kashrus" or at least many of them.
Far be it from me to attempt to tell someone else what to do, but @meme made a valid point while you added nothing to the conversation, let everyone speak to their own LOR or LOKE to find out.

Maybe point this out to the Star-K and cRC who don’t seem to be very “knowledgeable”

There are those that allow but as @dealmaster said, ask your LOR or be your own LOR if that’s how you operate. But at least be aware of the issue.

I meant to simplify.
Rabbi Stiegman a"h of the OK, who researched this, said scotch that used sherry casks are kosher.

Saying that kashrus experts say something that is very much in dispute is not a simplification, it is simply untrue! @meme only wrote
according to many
That is 100% true.

I guess this isn't one of my yetzere haras so I don't see the big deal in avoiding it, especially since it's so controversial.

As you can see, there are definitely 2 very respectable sides to this debate.
You use of "simplify" doesnt make much sense here.

For the record: I love sherry cask scotch, especially when it gives flavor. I dont understand the shitas that say it doesn't. You can literally taste it in many cases.

Gives taste in the form of smoothness. Its a chemical reaction, that isnt called “nosain tam”. Sherry isnt a flavor its stuck in the wood and the cask doesn’t let out or absorb more of once its used

IIRC David Lichtenstein sent sherry cask scotch to a lab to see if there is any traces of grape, and they were able to find grape traces (A very small amount though, I think 1 in 5000 or something.)

That's irrelevant because all parts of sherry are asur, not just the grape traces. For example, Sherry has water in it. The water from the sherry would be asur too
