You have an issue with that?

Depending on how it's done and who's doing it, I think I'd have an issue with it.

Crazy how in just 6 weeks we’ve gone from OP starting this thread to this
https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/16/health/us-coronavirus-friday/index.html

Deta is a real game-changes and I don't think the data to know how awful Delta is was as widespread six weeks ago.

You would have an issue with someone offering to give you a shot on the spot? That would be mighty convenient.

Is that the point? To convince people?

Brings to mind Reagan's line:

Absolutely. Allowing a stranger who shows up at your door to inject you with some unknown substance could be much more dangerous than COVID and vaccine side-effects combined.

How long till they start coming around to offer "family planning," and every other liberal "save the world" plan.

In just a few short weeks cases are rising in all 50 states ? Sounds like someone fell asleep at the wheel.

I can't remember which one it was, perhaps This American Life, but a podcast I heard had a company trying different tactics to get people to vaccinate. The most successful campaign was telling people that an appointment had been reserved for them (more than lottery tickets and prizes, data and info, etc.). The primary turning point for most people was convenience, not convincing. So while door to door shots might creep people out, I do believe that kind of thinking is the right track.

I like the responses. :)

I think in our communities we should definitely run vaccination drives like we currently do blood drives. On Sundays with food and drinks.

First of all, I don't think convenience is an issue outside of Lakewood. Second, I'd have much less of an issue with doctors starting a movement going door-to-door answering questions people may have and setting up in-home appointments for those who want it. Government, on the other hand, needs to stay out of the door-to-door stuff, IMO.

They were already calling him Sleepy Joe before he was elected. I don’t think it was known that R for Delta was ~double R for Alpha, or how high the R for Delta would be in populations with 50%+ fully vaccinated, which translates into much faster spread and a sharper increase in cases, so less time to act.

I would be interested to see how successful the vaccine pop-up in Crown Heights was. One person who was contemplating getting the shot pulled the trigger (yes, intended) on a whim just passing by, but he and others told me it was empty.

Concierge medicine is very popular with the uber-wealthy. There's a doctor in Lakewood who does this.

Where I live it’s all been done. And you can still walk in to basically any dr’s office & get it.

What do you propose them to do? Don't think America has the appetite for masks and restrictions.

If there was a way to mitigate fraud/abuse/deception, I’d say incentivizing private companies to get people vaccinated (say $50 for first dose and $100 for second) would be the best way to get this done. With that kind of motivation the market would organically evolve toward the optimal strategy.

I think it could be very effective. My issue is with government involvement. I think it's outside of their purview and will generate more divisiveness and distrust (if that's even possible).
