Does this have limitations on people who have sapphire cards currently?

Is waiting a few days essential after downgrading an active sapphire, or would an immidiate application work?

Immediate will be a rejection IME.
It's unclear exactly how long you need to wait, but there's no harm in applying as the system auto-rejects without a pull.

I'd try downgrading now, applying tomorrow, and let us know what happens :)

At any rate, 3 days is definitely safe.

When you downgrade or close an account, it's still "pending" for a few days. You can call again to have them "expedite" the process.

Details?
When I closed my old Freedom Unlimited, and applied for the new one, it was rejected. (My old card was still on my chase.com account). I called them and they said that the closure is still pending. I then asked them if they can close it completely now. They said yes. When I checked my chase.com account it was gone.

Interesting, though I guess that only applies to closure and not downgrade.

Any guesses if CSR sign up offer might increase too? 60k loses to 100k even including the $300 travel credit

I wouldn't count on that happening.

Thank you. I'm ready for a new card but CSR makes more sense for me and I don't mind waiting... but won't

CSR is a costly card for Chase and they regretted offering 100K for it in the past. They'd rather people get CSPs, hence the higher bonuses we've seen for it.

Thank you for your email requesting to match the 100,000
bonus points offer to your Chase Sapphire Preferred card.

, I have reviewed your account and I regret to
inform you that your account is not eligible for the new
offer you requested. The original offer you applied for
will remain on your account.

Let me share that the sign up bonus offers keep on
changing and may vary from time to time. There is a
possibility that there could be multiple ongoing offers
for the same product at the same time. In order to take
advantage of a particular offer, you need to click on the
link attached with that particular offer. If the
application is completed via any other link, the offer
applied on your account may not be the same.

We apologize if our conclusions are not in agreement with
the outcome you anticipated.

Thank you,

Hemant

I want to downgrade to get this offer. I have travel booked on my CSR for oct. Will probably buy Travel insurance anyway for health insurance. Probably will not end up in lounges (short connection in JFK). Any other reason to keep the CSR open through travel in oct?

You can upgrade, if needed.
