It is more dangerous to be Black than Jewish in this country. That statement has nothing to do with racism or hate crimes. Being Jewish makes it more likely to be the victim of a hate crime than being Black does. Those are 2 different facts.

I think that's a good approach, because I'd guess it removes a significant number of other factors.

The Jewish kid is far more likely to be attacked because he's Jewish than the Black kid is because he's black.
The Black kid is far more likely to be killed by another black kid than the Jewish kid is by another Jewish kid.
