American bumping surcharge to $250 surcharge to miles tickets ??

Hey all,

Just experienced something "new".

Bought mileage ticket in feb to israel travelling in june and they charged the usual $50 charge.
Bought another one in april for travel in december aND CHARGED SAME AMOUNT.

Yesterday priced out april 2022 back to israel right after yom tov and now they charged $250
a ticket for that charge.

Is this new? temporary or are they pulling a BA and pricing themselves out of the market.

Anyone know whats up ??
