Seems there's a targeted 100% bonus when buying IHG points,  if buying above 26,000 points comes out to 0.5 cents per point. 

Is this a good deal or typically they have these promotions all year around?

You can get 0.5 cpp pretty easily but this promo comes around a few times a year so not worth buying unless you have a specific redemption in mind.
