I wonder if whichever source Golden Flow used to use for a CY buttermilk culture is no longer available.

It seems that site's product is OU and the getculture one is OK certified. Worth checking out the hashgacha, but my hunch is they're both officially Cholov Stam.

Both of those sites consider "MILK" to be an allergen in the product. It's likely that the culture is harvested from milk. Whether this is considered Cholov Stam is, as you said, something for LOR, I suppose.

in all likelihood, milk is used in the culture. I'm not sure you could even use dry milk since you need live bacteria.

I was just in a store that usually sells kreider farm milk bottles with a Hebrew date but the butterscotch milk did not have any Hebrew date so it seems that they do not produce CY butterscotch milk.

Fwiu it not necessarily non CY, and may be due to being limited to how much can be marketed as CY or something like that.

Seasons in Lakewood now carries a line of milks from Bethel Creamery in NJ which are Cholov Yisroel. They have regular milk, chocolate milk, and buttermilk. They advertise as being from grass-fed cows, with a much higher protein level and much more milkfat.

I tried the chocolate milk, it's unbelievable. You have to first shake it to get all the cream from the top to mix back in, but I never tasted such fresh and delicious chocolate milk.

Yea looks like buttermilk is a new line of theirs. Bought one thinking it's like heavy cream and was excited to use it in coffee, well it's more like liquid yogurt...

In the Goyish world they dip chicken cutlets into it, but obviously that is בשר וחלב.

start whipping your cream and keep whipping until it's over whipped. At which point it will break. Keep going and you'll end up with butter . The remaining liquid is buttermilk
