If you don't care about optical zoom while shooting video go for the 100.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I actually bought the Elph 300 last month for about $160 (even if it has a slightly smaller screen and more expensive)... I chose that one over the 100 because of the 24mm wide angle lens as well as the optical zoom during video shooting

I bought an 8gb TRANSCEND SDHC card CLASS 10 for $10 on amazon. U get 2500 pictures in highest quality or 30 min HD videos. Class 10 will help u record the video faster. U actually dont need that fast for such a camera (important for DSLR) but at this price...

I am always worried that a memory card might not be real (when bought online). Someone once told me that there are ways to test it. Anyone familiar with this?

Any of the big names should be fine, Transcend, Kingston, SanDisk etc. The higher the class the faster, though speed probably won't matter much with the ELPH100, at least not for photos.

I suspected that, shell out the few extra bucks for a class 10 card and you'll be good to go.

60 mins sounds high if youre taking 1080p video...and it may be choppy at class 4

I record less than 30 min on my elph 300 at highest quality on an 8gb class 10.

I posted one at the beginning of the thread... transcend... class 10... 16gb. Great card I have one in my small elph 300 and one in my Canon T2i Rebel DSLR. Check the amazon page they have it in 4gb to 32gb.
