IIRC, those symptoms were actually noted in our communities weeks before they were acknowledged symptoms by doctors. So it is possible that he had those systems, but wouldn't have attributed it to Covid until later.

There is no disagreement here that loss of smell is vital. I just took it as a given.

But I live in S FL, so I think differently than a lot of other folks

That part isn’t so clear. There’s long-term B-cell immunity (from the very little I understand, B-cells produce T-cell antibodies), which is presumed to outlast T-cells. These antibody tests only test for the presence of T-cell. B-cells might only be in the marrow.

In other words, it is much more likely that he didn't get Covid, than he has a auto immune disorder (c"v).

If he had COVID and doesn’t have antibodies, that’s an immune disorder, not an auto-immune disorder.

So why doesn't he have antibodies?

An askan here claims that based on his exposure, a negative antibody level is most likely a mistake, but it could also be that there are no detectable antibodies because of how long it has been.  I would prefer that he get vaccinated, but he is an adult, so I have little say.  Maybe his kalla will be able to talk him into it.

Two senior haredi rabbis have endorsed a call by their personal physician urging parents to vaccinate their children against the coronavirus.

Dr. Meshulam Hart, a family doctor and pediatrician from Bnei Brak who also serves as the private physician for Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky and Rabbi Gershon Edelstein, penned a letter Tuesday morning, urging parents to vaccinate children who are over the age of 12.

Children who have already been infected with the coronavirus, however, are exempted from the call to vaccinate.

Hart’s open letter to parents claimed the call was endorsed by both Rabbi Kanievsky and Rabbi Edelstein.

“During this period, when there is concern over new outbreaks, especially among students and young people who are not vaccinated, and after careful consideration of the matter and after bringing the opinions of top doctors to [Rabbi Kanievsky and Rabbi Edelstein], they have instructed that the following message be made public.”

“Because the issue is a matter of saving lives for others…and in particular when there is a real danger of disrupting Torah study and having schools and yeshivas closed, every student from the age of 12 and up, who does not know for certain that they were already infected with and recovered from the coronavirus, is instructed to get vaccinated according to doctors’ orders.”

Is this the thread where we discuss why J&J was paused for 6 cases of blood clots, but vaccinating 12 -16 year olds - who are much lower risk - has not paused for >300 cases of myocarditis?
