i hate to say it
but just surviving the collapse alone seems very slim not to mention the injury someone would sustain from such trauma
to also have water and proper ventilation for close to a week .... that would be nothing short of an open miracle

i agree whole heartedly and i haven't let go of the hope that people are still hanging in there

I’m no engineer but wouldn’t the lower floors have that much more weight on it & possibly less chance of voids ?

There are still voids and air gaps. The people on lower floors didn't fall that far, so if they were lucky to be in one of those voids they should be able to survive without major injuries.

i don't think the issue was falling i think it was being crushed
the building didn't tip over it fell unto itself

My relative's chair and some other household stuff can be seen where his unit was (2nd flr) relatively untouched. If some of his stuff is unscathed, why shouldn't he and his family be?

My relative's chair and some other household stuff can be seen where his unit was (2nd flr) relatively untouched. If some of his stuff is unscathed, why shouldn't he and his family be?

I know that with each day that passes the chances decline statistically, but we're believers, and hope is all we got right now.

Think it’s very simple if it was at 1 AM then they were most probably in their bedroom which could be part of the collapse, if the building crumbled bottom up then pancaked...
