There was discussion upthread about the Israeli team's role in the rescue and recovery efforts. Here is another quote from that Miami Herald article

The Israeli team played a central role in the effort, both in assisting with private family briefings and helping Miami-Dade authorities map the fallen building with potential locations for victims. Their departure brought a ceremony Saturday night, with the squad marching north on Collins Avenue with an Israeli flag at the front of the procession and applause from rows of local first responders on either side, according to footage posted on social media.

During a brief ceremony on Saturday evening, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Chief Alan Cominsky declared the team’s leaders honorary commanders of the county department, according to the Associated Press. Levine Cava presented the battalion with a ceremonial key to the city, and thanked the battalion for their “unrelenting dedication.”

In an interview with WPLG’s “This Week in South Florida,” Levine Cava said the Israeli team changed into rescue gear in the bathroom of Miami International Airport when they first arrived so there would be no delay in joining the operation. She said the squad provided Miami-Dade with 3-D mapping techniques that produced a detailed map that helped chart where victims could be found in the Champlain Towers rubble, and also brought expertise in how to handle briefings and interactions with families of the missing.

“The families were very, very inspired to them on the site,” Levine Cava said. “They do the family support very well.”

I heard from people on site that the Israeli team based on their 3-D map of the building and collapse were able to pinpoint where specific people would be.

They were amazingly detailed in interviews with families about carpet type, items in the apartments, which rooms family members were sleeping in nights prior, etc.

And as I mentioned they came off shifts confirming they found specific people exactly where they were looking based on those interviews and models.

Really amazing kidush Hashem and incredible help for the families, may they all find comfort.

4 more victims were found the in rubble of the Surfside condo collapse overnight. The death toll is now at 94, with 83 of the victims identified.

The Miami-Dade Police Department said three young children were among those recently identified.

Crews continued to search the remaining pile of rubble, peeling layer after layer of debris in search of bodies. The unrelenting search has resulted in the recovery of over 14 million pounds (about 6.4 million kilograms) of concrete and debris, Levine Cava said.

This slow drip of people being found and then identified days later makes this whole disaster so much more painful. It's like stabbing an open wound multiple times a day, every day.

It’s still an epic tragedy and doesn’t minimize that in the least, but the numbers you site will mean the Hyatt Regency walkway collapse will still hold the record for the deadliest non-deliberate structural failure in US history. Initial numbers cited for Champlain Towers made it seam like it would take the record.

I’m not saying this like it’s a curiosity/freakshow. For me this data tells me two important things:
1. How relatively rare such complete catastrophic collapse is, and helps me feel safe with building codes and massive structures.
2. How important it is for the right people to understand what happened here and apply that understanding into policies that prevent such things from occurring in the future.
