TSA question about items
« on: June 21, 2023, 11:08:14 AM »
Wondering if anyone has ever brought back a coconut through TSA? Wondering if its considered a liquid cause it has about 10 oz if liquid inside or if it’s a solid cause its a coconut.

Any leads would be appreciated thanks!

quick search found this from TSA website
"Passengers flying from Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands to the U.S. mainland cannot take most fresh fruits and vegetables due to the risk of spreading invasive plant pests."

Then found this

Sounds like

Domestically, TSA does not have an issue.
Internationally, Department of Agriculture has an issue.

not sure how they allow it - there's more than 3.4 ounces of coconut water in there

Right, so im traveling domestic, but I wonder if they mean like its pashut that a coconut with more than 3.3 ounces is assur but aphilu a coconut that is less than 3.3 ounces is also assur because of diseases.

Just trying to figure it out because they have a presoftened area for a straw to go into and I don’t want it to leak in luggage below the plane.

Just a note: Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands aren't international destinations.
They're just not the U.S. mainland.
