Why not just book him/her a seat? Why do you need to change the age in order to do that?

Would have to do on phone (with AA)...

Where can i find people's experience with changing an infant's DOB to be able to book him a seat? What do I  change it to etc?
Browsed every other page in this thread and can't find it.
Dan has mentioned it a bunch of times. Date doesn't seem to mean anything

Not sure where this belongs:

Looking to book 2 adults and 1 infant on economy, LHR-ORD, JFK-LHR.

Looked into various options using miles or cash. Our options (inc. all taxes and close in fees) are:

a) $1,275 + 40k AA miles - direct flights both ways, or

b) $1,575 - 3 hr stop in JFK en route to ORD

c) $1,170 + 60k AA miles - direct flights both ways and infant would be guaranteed a seat on the JFK-LHR leg.

d) $690 + 80k AA miles - direct flights both ways.

It really depends on how much we value the miles for, but I want to hear peoples advice...
And does the fact that soon the non-peak dates on AA are becoming more limited devalue the AA miles even further.

Went with option "d".
What do people value AA miles nowadays?

Would it make sense to book DW and I in F and book a seat in J for my baby? Would the FA mind if I bring a baby into F if I didn't pay for the lap infant?
(Not trying to skimp on the miles, just having a hard time finding 3 seats in F)

How are you going to do that, change the DOB to much older?

No, older. Adult needs to be same cabin unless he's old enough to fly alone

Seems like each way will have its own complications though I will likely be doing it when I go to SYD in EY F

Nothing personal, but after lots of research, they will not let you bounce between cabins. You may get a very compassionate FA, but not likely.

They wouldn't let DW and I sit in F and hold the baby there the entire time?

I agree with MP in seeing how this could potentially become an issue on the flight that will make your F flight not as relaxed and comfortable as you'd like it to be.

The only way I see it happening is if you are both booked in F and child in J and if so u somehow get past check-in then I'm sure on the plane won't be an issue

So if I would want to add an infant to a booking that looks like this: Jfk-MXP booked with AS and EK in F then LY in Y from MXP-TLV booked with Matmid and NYC-ZRH-JFK in J booked with M&M. So how much would it cost if I add a child that is under 2?

Lap inf on EY is such a nightmare. Trying to price out but reps are clueless because there's no published fare TLV-AMM-AUH-SYD. Anyone successfully been quoted lap infant price for this? Some reports I've seen are 10%, some 20%!

I would just book everyone with a seat to avoid the charges but there's only 2 J seats on the first two legs (and we have two adults, 2 infants).

Maybe try adding the infant with EY just on their flights and add them to RJ separately.
