Anyone knows if I'm able to add an infant to a trip where he turns 2 before the return part? Will they only add him to the outbound flight?

Aa is saying they can't issue lap infant tickets for qantas business and qantas is saying AA has to issue the tickets
Flight is in about 4 hours, AA said to try at the airport.

Anyone had experience with this?
What happened at the end?

What happened at the end?

Never heard of the issuer not being able to issue a lap infant but it seems AA was right...qantas had to issue the tickets (or at least that's what worked). Was a whole Baal Agan though as I hadn't booked the infant tickets out of NZ so the technically you're not allowed to enter NZ without having a ticket out. So had to get AA to issue the infant flights out, luckily e-ticket numbers came through over the phone, and qantas booked the infant tickets going into NZ, of course charging me 10% of the business fare. I thought between NZ and Australia might have been quasi domestic but it's just plain international (not really surprised).

Anyway AA quoted me like 400 for the Akl-ppt infant fare in economy - even with barely time to go to my flight and trying not get infant tickets issued for the next hour I had to go through management to challenge the price- got them down to 111, but still too high considering the TN and QF prices for the same codeshare are only around 700- don't know if I can challenge though at this point.

Booked SQ award in J:

LAX-EWR-ZRH-TLV (all on UA except ZRH-TLV on LX).

SQ are saying they're unable to add a lap infant even after multiple HUCAs- they want UA to do it.
UA says they can't because ticket is on SQ stock.

Now SQ is saying I need to book on UA for their legs and LX for theirs- which is ridiculous not to mention outrageously expensive.

Any advice how to proceed? Been back and forth with both airlines for hours.

Had that in the past, and paid at the end @ the airport 10% of full fare which was like $400

I need to do it in advance or they won't let me reserve a bassinet. Also waiting to do it at the airport is not ideal for peace of mind, the rate could end up being way more than $400 and not enough time to really get it changed.

I understand. just trying to say that nothing worked in advance. Regarding the Bassinet, I didn't really have a problem, as they are rarely occupied in business class. It was an easy change.

Update for any interested- I conferenced in an SQ agent when calling the UA callback line so they could hash it out on their own. Ended up getting transferred to the executive line to get the lap child ticket issued (took forever though). So it can be done.

Thanks for update!

Was it ticketed? By me one time they did it and it was a reservation only and had to pay in airport

+1. Had this with BA and AA. AA created a dummy booking to add the infant to a BA ticket on an AA plane and linked it to the BA record locator.

Apparently the executive line sends it to a specific desk for ticketing so it takes longer to process, but the payment went through already.

I just called the United call back and they did it.

I called the UA callback line multiple times- they were insisting they couldn't do it because our tickets were on SQ stock so they couldn't touch the ticket. SQ was telling them they don't need to touch the ticket but to make a commercial booking and link it to our reservation (they couldn't do it because they didn't "have" the LAX-EWR fares available to them).
In short, a huge headache. Even the  UA executive line didn't want to do it at first. I had to convince them to include the LX segment onto the ticket.

Happy to hear!
Please report after flight that it went smooth on check-in....

Depends on the route. And either way they rarely carry enough bassinets for all the slots and will only bring more on board if prearranged.

If it's a typo you should be able to call them and get them to adjust it.
