@YitzyS Can you advise which of the ten interviews there are a must see?
I don't plan on watching them until Tisha B'av, but you can probably gain some idea from flipping around a little first. I am also interested in hearing the perspective of certain people there. Rav Kviat was a gadol baTorah. Rabbi Elies was a chinuch giant. Rabbi Friedonson was always profound. Each must have their own perspective, and I'm confident I won't be disappointed.

The Artscroll Kinnos. Artscroll included detailed introductions to many of the kinnos, with full historical context, and it makes for compelling reading even while not in middle of saying kinnos.

Sounds interesting, just ordered. Ty

do all of their videos reference movie titles or secular themes or case by case where you can filter for kids?
i can tell you the piece on Grappling with Loss has a large piece tied to Arrival (the movie) but other than that i dont think the tisha b'av stuff brings in movies.

R Hersh Goldwurm's History of the Jewish People Vol I

Also, not exactly the topic at hand, but related. If I ever need an instant hisorirus for tears, I rewatch the clip from the 2020 siyum hashana about the Holocaust. Specifically the excerpts from Rav Gifter's and Rav Schwab's past siyum speeches.

Was looking for it, too bad they didn't make one in לשון הקודש yet.

I'm also curious if the Schotennstein edition with interlinear translation has the same prefaces and extra curricular materials. It would be much easier to follow.

I think they are the same, but I haven't looked at the original since the interlinear came out so I don't know for sure. Who is the author of the overview in the original?

The authors of the English Kinnos were Rav Avrohom Chaim Feuer and Rabbi Avie Gold. The introductory overview to the sefer was written by Rav Feuer. (He quotes Rav Gifter a few times, and I just realized that he is a son-in-law of Rav Gifter.)

The Overview is the same then. And I think the comments section is the same too. Rav Avrohom Chaim Feuer and Rabbi Avie Gold are contributing editors.

I found the following to be very good: https://nehora.zone/kinot/MA_03.html
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

BUMPing this thread now.

Hopefully Tisha B'av this year will be a joyous day, but if not, it may be time to start thinking about this (especially if someone may want to order something for delivery)

Rabbi Berkovits once said to read on 9 Av about the spirit of Yiddishkeit in trying times. Klal Yisrael reacts in amazing ways to the most difficult experiences, and it is appropriate to kvell about that (so to speak) on 9 Av.

He recommended one book by name: Sparks of Glory. (I found one and read it - it is very good but written old-fashioned.)
(Having trouble with DDF link on that page - blame it on the filter, amiright?)
