Jet Blue Will No Longer Allow Carry-On Luggage For Blue Basic Fares

Blue Basic fares do not allow a carry-on bag if they were booked on or after 2/25/21 for travel 7/20/21 or later.

Will they enforce this? on Frontier they did not check if I paid for carry on.

Wow they're really going right into the toilet. I used to choose them in Y over anyone else, but these days they're just so lousy. Horrible IFE, fakakta website, that stupid armrest control, and now this.

I've found this policy annoying with UA as well. IIRC AA and DL still allow you to have a carry-on even in basic econ.

UA waives it with a cc. Jetblue does not.

I'm glad you brought that up, I got the B6 CC during the recent 100k offer, so I was wondering if I'd be exempt from this. Even more disappointing to hear that is not the case.

I'm surprised to hear that Frontier didn't enforce this. I would've thought a LCC would be strict about this. Was this just a one-time thing or you've found that to happen multiple times with Frontier?

I only flew once with them, and the computer kiosk asked by the check in if we have carry-on (I selected no). But by the gate no one asked or checked. If Jet Blue will do the same then I'm fine 🙂

the (printed from home) boarding pass has big lettering that says no carryon.
i didnt check if the mobile pass has as well.

do they check at the gate while boarding?
can you gate check a carryon without showing your boarding pass?

I'm flying blue basic this Sunday EWR-BOS

I went right through pre-check at EWR and no one checked at the gate. It was a fairly empty flight and I was the last to board. I like doing that so I can have my pick of the remaining empty seats
