This is where it starts to get interesting:
https://www.jta.org/2021/07/20/united-states/how-us-laws-against-israel-boycotts-could-hit-ben-jerrysUnilever's stock is down about 1% in the last few days - but I don't necessarily know that the B&J thing is fueling it. However if state AGs take action - non-renewal of B&J contracts for college food service, highway rest stops, or divestment of unilever from pension funds - we might see it really tanking.
Three other Random thoughts:
- With a simple press release, B&J just got a lot of "free" publicity. The question is, do they make more money from appeasing the woke BDS Community than they lose by alienating the jews?
- As has been stated earlier - the whole thing is disingenuous - non-renewal of a contract doesn't mean they've stopped selling, and how can they guarantee that they will continue to sell in Israel proper and not what they consider "occupied territory" until they find a partner willing to do so.
- It seems that when Unilever bought B&J, they had an arrangement to allow the B&J's board to make decisions when it came to their social agenda. I wonder how that relationship survives now.
