Good Quality Cordless Phone
« on: July 20, 2021, 07:47:29 AM »
I've bought the regular Panasonic phones over the years (e.g., Panasonic Bluetooth Cordless Phone KX-TG7875S), but they never seem to last. Can anyone recommend a good quality phone? Needs to include 3-4 handsets. Answering machine and bluetooth not necessary. Preferably reasonable price, but not necessarily a "great deal".

Vs others like uniden, I've found panasonic to be better quality and last longer.
If the battery is the issue, you can replace them, but make sure to charge it up fully before you pull it out of the charger and make sure it doesn't receive any incoming calls while it's charging, otherwise the battery won't be able to charge up fully.

Cordless phones in a home with kids is officially a disposable thing. I'd rather focus to buy them at lowest price possible, like this deal.

Or you can buy an electronics insurance plan when purchasing the phone.

At the risk of sounding repetitive, they are all trash after a while...

Welcome aboard, that's why i buy them all from costco and should it break before its normal time frame, straight back to costco it goes for a new set. That way i don't have to be busy with returning them to Panasonic.

 That's my best recommendation's.

Agree. The problem is deciding what 'normal' is in this category. But you don't have to worry much as you can be wrong with Costco. They will take it back anyway. I call the policy, the embarrassment level policy...

Here is where NOT to go staples. A friend of mine purchased there and it was defective, went back and they pointed to the "NO RETURNS ON CORDLESS HANDSETS" Sign. And then they wonder why they are going bankrupt.....

Nice article here:
https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-cordless-phone/
It says that the Vtech IS8151 available at Costco for $100 is very good. Costco has the Panasonic KX-TG994 for $80. Maybe it's time to try Vtech...

ETA: For some reason, there is a $9 shipping charge on the Panasonic. So that makes the choice simpler. :)

Great article but it doesnt seem like they tested the durability of the phhones at all. Even when they start out ok, they break way to quick and easily...

To me, the shape of the handset is also important.
Some fit nicely between the cheek and shoulder, some don't.
Sound quality should also be a factor; no use using a phone that you can't hear from.

Buy from Costco and return as needed.
