NYC-LAX on 7/7 - 7/11

Hey everyone,

I am trying to find 2 business class seats from NYC to LAX on July 7th and returning on July 11th. Trouble is I am looking for a refundable or changeable ticket... Would I be better off getting a mileage ticket (are they usually refundable/changeable)?

I can only seem to find 50k r/t pp with a stopover...

AA has on 7/5-7/11 with a stop in ORD
UA has on 7/8-7/11 with a stop in SFO (but 7/8 is friday)
US has on 7/7-7/11 with a stop in PHX on the way there and CLT on the way back

I will hopefully has 50k MR points soon and can probably get some more if needed.
I also have ~140k AA points.

First off, the 50K RT is what biz costs.
Second, mileage is probably the best way to go, because its much more changeable than revenue tickets.
AA has a very generous change policy in that they allow free changes for a year, as long as Origin and Destination (OandD) are the same, IIRC.
Continental (MR) also has the same, with the exception that if anything (original date, new date) is within 21 days they charge $75. They also let you book award seats at the 50K for Biz level on US and UA.
Regarding availability, GL.

Only the new date matters.  If a rep claims otherwise speak to a manager or try again.

Thanks! I was just disappointed at not being able to find any direct flights for the 50k.. :(

Did you check CO? I think EWR is a CO hub.

Oh they have tons of direct flights from EWR but none with the "SaverPass" 25k availability for any of July... :(

So does that mean that you can change a flight for tomorrow to a flight a month out without a fee?
