12. If you're seriously gushing over a post, consider liking it twice or more. See quoted.

15. You've already disapproved of several posts of mine, but I'm choosing to not dislike you in return.  "Not dislike" has two negatives, making a positive; ergo, a Like.

Simple. It means that I second the question, as I too have been wanting to use the site but don't have a smartphone.

What is a like?

  • There's a little blue button on the bottom of every post (that's not your own) that says "like". (this is on the website, not on tapa)
  • When someone gets a "like" it shows up in their profile and in "Likes Notifications".
  • Because "likes" show up in the users profile, it is often appreciated more than a thanks or lol that is quickly forgotten.

How should likes be used?

Likes are a way of showing appreciation for someone's post. There are many types of appreciation:
  • Thank you for finding that deal. I used the deal that you posted.
  • Thank you for the information. It was helpful to me.
  • I appreciate your humor/wit. That was funny.
  • I appreciate your position. I think you are right.
  • I appreciate your writing and/or research. I'm impressed.
  • I appreciate doing a deal with you. it was a successful deal.
  • I appreciate your pain/what you're going/went through. I empathize with you.
  • I appreciate that you had a Simcha/good time. I'm happy for you.
ETA: 9. I appreciate your response. I noticed.
+1

This is getting out of hand... This post became my record for likes for a single post.  :o

Compare this with the post referenced, which now has eight more likes than before:

There has got to be some rule on DDF that I broke with this?  :P

I think I'm writing my doctorate on this.

Observation:
The results of this study support the hypothesis that posts with likes on DansDeals Forums are more likely to attract additional likes. The presence of likes serves as a form of social proof, signaling to users that the post is worth reading and engaging with. The increasing likelihood of receiving further likes indicates a positive reinforcement loop that promotes post visibility and credibility.
However, the saturation effect observed after approximately 10 likes suggests that there is a limit to the number of users who actively engage with posts. This finding implies that post visibility and the likelihood of receiving likes may eventually plateau, particularly for posts that have already garnered substantial engagement.

Results:
Positive Feedback Loop: The study findings indicate a positive feedback loop between likes and post engagement. Posts with initial likes tend to attract more attention and are more likely to receive additional likes compared to posts with zero likes.
Increasing Likelihood: With each additional like, the likelihood of receiving further likes increases, as more users are drawn to popular posts and find them more credible.
Saturation Point: However, the study reveals that the likelihood of receiving additional likes begins to decline after reaching approximately 10 likes. This decline is attributed to a saturation effect, where the pool of users who generally like posts becomes exhausted.

Conclusion:
Likes play a significant role in shaping post engagement within DansDeals Forums. Posts with initial likes are more likely to attract subsequent likes, indicating that users tend to assign more credibility and attention to posts with social validation. However, a saturation point exists, where the likelihood of receiving further likes diminishes due to the limited pool of users who actively engage with posts. This study sheds light on the dynamics of post engagement and provides insights for forum users and moderators seeking to understand and leverage social validation within online communities.

FTFY
Indeed the writing was done by ChatGPT, but I fed them this:

write a study which portrays how posts with likes on DansDeals Forums are more likely to get additional likes, because readers will notice them more and give those posts more credence than a similar post with zero likes. With each additional like, the likelihood of receiving yet another like goes up, as more people will stop and read that post. But the likelihood will start to decline again once it reaches about 10 likes, because you start to exhaust the number of members who generally like posts.
