I wouldn't call him evil, but rather a Trump-wannabe, a much smarter version of Trump. Others can decide if that's evil or not.
Example: Last year Trump "said" (maybe a tweet) that kids don't get covid and needed to go back to school. Soon after that DeSantis announced that although we were still in lockdown, kindergartens would re-open, because children don't get covid. Twitter and newspaper editorials not-so-kindly noted that 5-year olds can't be schoolbus drivers, monitors, teachers, janitors, etc. so effectively he was stopping the lockdown for everyone who had or worked with kids.
And here's the difference between Trump and DeSantis. The very next day, DeSantis admitted he was wrong. So, smarter than Trump. Though some say not smart enough to have realized that problem in the first place.
