There were fines issued but he did not have the same anti semitism issue. They weren't exactly the same. Either way my point was expressed poorly. My point was that they had similar deaths in nursing homes at the beginning of the pandemic and did not get the same treatment. His arrogance brought the ficus on his failures

Maybe someone can explain this a little better than they did. The way I am reading it is that they moved from counting a death on the day it was reported which can be a few weeks after the person died to counting it on the day it occurred. This seems more accurate to me but will create a lag in data and there will be constant revisions.

What they are saying, now that it changed it will take weeks/months for the current deaths to be reported. This makes it look like they are now in a decline. It is confusing.

But the other way around will show what happened weeks ago not now. Either way we don't know what is happening now.

This is essentially correct. At the end of the day, the numbers will all add up, but the data becomes useless for anything other than a postmortem. The "benefit" is that there are fewer daily headlines with gaudy death tolls, which means less urgency on the ground and less political pressure.

Yes, but when data on deaths lags by 2-4 weeks, you still get useful data during each wave, which can help guide responses. The way they are doing it now, the data is too convoluted to make any real use of until it's over and we're looking to see what went wrong.

ETA: Ultimately, deaths aren't a super helpful stat, so this isn't actually costing many lives, especially in FL where there is no response to waves, anyway. It's just a distasteful political maneuver.
