And you would hope we are doing a better job reacting and treating now than in March/April 2020. Apparently not in many states, even much less dense states, some of which have surpassed NY/NJ considering the entire pandemic and the gap is widening.

IMO the diff between CA and NJ/NY. CA had the benefit of not being the first state to get clobbered.

Their metrics have been pretty good, even in the worst of it, compared to other states.

From the beginning of the pandemic, New York vs Florida. 

New York had the initial surge, when we were all clueless and thought we needed to keep 20 feet apart, sanitize all groceries, etc. and doctors had no idea how to treat it. 

Florida had a much small case load and locked down, but then ignored everything we had learned and re-opened completely in time for Memorial Day and July 4 tourists.  And we got that predictable, unnecessary surge.

They haven't stopped bashing JD non-stop since last June, and he does deserve much of the criticism. But judging by the amount of noise I thought the FL chart would be way past everyone else by now.
