I'm not a fan of DeSantis, but what is all the hype about case count rising with Omicron? There is really not anything you can do to prevent that, not vaccines and not masks. Only thing you can do is lock down and keep people home, but no one wants that, no one will comply, and no one thinks the cost-benefit calculation would make sense for that one.

Stupid and intellectually-dishonest. Using Omicron reality (cherry-picked) to validate “truths” suggested about COVID a year and a half ago when the realities were different.

The issue is he did nothing with the other variants when it did matter. He will also do nothing when new variants come around.

Lets be fair here. We need more data to know what protection vaccines/boosters have against the new variant. Unvaccinated are seen more in hospitals/deaths but it is lagging data.

Also, my criticism is against his whole approach to the virus and that has not changed.

@PlatinumGuy Seems to be the same charts as previously shown. I.e. not recent enough to account for Omicron.

In any case, I still say that at least one vaccine should be taken, but to to expect DeSantis to push for boosters when that is not going to help is not reasonable. He already pushes to take the vaccine in general.

He is against mandates which overwhelmingly work. That means less vaccinated, which in turn means more hospitalized and dying. That is the issue I have besides all the other things he is against.

Also, why the drop at the end of the yellow bar in the hospitalization chart? That would imply the hospitalization count has recently fallen for the vaccinated (despite level/higher case counts). Is that because of boosters, vaccination being more effective against Omicon combined with Omicron prevalence rising, reporting lag? Something else?

ETA: one commenter on twitter pointed out something that might be significant as well. Were children under 5 excluded? Otherwise they might significantly skew the unvaccinated numbers when they don’t even have the option to vaccinate, and imply worse outcomes for the age 5+ unvaccinated than represented in the chart.

The numbers make sense. 80 per 100k non-vaccinated can be 20 per 100k city wide.

There’s a very obvious spike in these charts from around December 5. It is very clearly Omicron. Anyways, האמת יורה דרכו. Any doubt will shortly be eliminated.

This is 100% false. SCOTUS rules on if the constitution allows it. SCOTUS does not rule on if it should be done.
