And here's more data! @iwlw2 @AsherO @aygart  Just released, from Kentucky:

Covid recoverees were twice as likely to be reinfected than Covid recoverees who got the vaccine.

"These data further indicate that COVID-19 vaccines offer better protection than natural immunity alone and that vaccines, even after prior infection, help prevent reinfections."

What is the likelihood of infection when you compare vaccinated without prior infection with unvaccinated people that had prior infection?

That's the question that was addressed in the Israeli report, discussed above this in the thread.  Basically, vaccinated without prior infection were about 6 times as likely to get a (breakthrough) infection than those who were unvaccinated and had prior infection.

BUT - and a very important but -all of these studies should be considered "preliminary".  That is, no one of them is definitive.  They each provide a small tidbit of info, and only after we see substantial studies all pointing in the same direction will we be able to answer the question.

Don't we have a pretty clear picture of risk vs reward for getting vaccinated?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Depends on your risk factor.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Thank you for posting this, this is the kind of actual data that can actually help change hearts and minds. I also appreciate your disclaimer, and I'm hoping for more data like this to come out. I still scratch my head that there haven't been more studies like this, the American health and media mainstream establishment seems to overall be paying very little attention to the whole question of prior infections and natural antibodies for some reason....

If this is true, Title is incorrect and misleading.

+1.
Natural immunity provides more protection, however the vaccine can help increase that protection.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

“Covid vaccination boosts protection in those with natural immunity” would be a more appropriate title.

Excuse me for being lazy and not reading the study, but it's there any data on it the increased protection requires both doses or if one dose combined with prior infection provided the same protection?

Am I reading this wrong or is the title mistaken? Doesn't this study say prior infection grants stronger immunity than vaccines, but vaccines boost natural immunity so that they will be less likely to be reinfected?

This seems to back up a policy of giving those recovered the same leniencies as vaccinated who were never infected but illustrates how it remains wise for them to get vaccinated.

I'm vaccinated, I helped a bunch of people get vaccinated when it was tougher to find appointments, and I continue to try assuage people's fears (in person, online discussions are worthless).

If you keep lying to people, or omitting facts that don't suit you, people lose trust in everything you say. This has been a mantra for the entire covid.

Be honest, say what you know from the available info, and if that shows you should get vaccinated, more people will get it than if it appears you're trying to brush some info under the rug.

Then keep it simple. My statement was simple and straight to the point.
