Recommendations for comfortable masks
« on: August 08, 2021, 05:53:04 PM »
I'm looking for a mask that is comfortable for extended use. Dan recommended using a mask bracket, though he didn't specify which one, and the reviews on Amazon on most of them are not great.

Can anyone recommend a good mask bracket, or a mask that is comfortable for extended use?

The first thing that comes to mind is אמר רב נחמן אמר רבה בר אבוה אמר קרא ואהבת לרעך כמוך - ברור לו מיתה יפה.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Full disclosure: I'm affiliated with the seller.

https://amazon.com/dp/B08GFJX7RM/?tag=cl03f-20

These have wider, flat ear loops that are way more comfortable on the ears than regular ear loops. The rest of the mask is the same as the brand's standard 3ply masks.

Since most of the mask requirements are about optics, they should also make ones that don't restrict air that much, yet show the appearance of full mask compliance. And that was your $1,000,000 business idea for the day.

Interesting product. I'm assuming these should probably still be worn with mask bracket?

Never heard that fake (removable) tattoos are ossur (not that I know that any type of tattoo might comply with the optical mask requirement).

I met someone (not frum) who wears a bejeweled mesh mask. You cannot tell it is mesh unless you really stare at it closely in a way that is not socially acceptable, but she breathes normally through it.

Plenty of people use neck gaitors, which pass most mask rules, but are useless for protection and much easier to breathe in.

I've never used the bracket. I'd assume it doesn't put pressure on the ears so there would be no use for this product if you're using that.

I just wore one for a 7 hour journey and I was fine with it, but I probably would have been fine with the regular one as well, so I'm not the right guy to ask.

I think head size and shape matters for ear comfort.

I've actually noticed that Apple provides their employees at their stores their own custom designed/manufactured masks. Not available for purchase anywhere AFAIK.

Its not. They had their own design team make it.

None. I find the neck gaitors the easiest though.

I've been using this for over a year with no issue including multiple flights, it's a game changer compared to the regular mask

Saw someone wearing a neck strap that pulled back the bottom of the ear loops (behind the ears) backwards towards eachother. I’m not sure if this was for a better deal at the bottom or also for additional comfort.

It was also a pretty cool looking mask, looked like three horizontal panels where the middle panel seemed like it was layered over the top and bottom panel.
