Some facts:

1) Rapid tests are useful, but they are not as accurate as PCRs.
2) Rapid tests are used in many places for entry.
3) Urgent cares and other locations can and do bill for performing rapid tests, and the good quality ones (Abbott) are not expensive.

Big understatement. One is 50% sensitive, one is 90%+ sensitive (performed at the right time).

Rapids are useful. PCRs are accurate. It’s very surprising that countries are accepting rapids, but I guess in a world where some virus entry isn’t the end of the world (because of high vaccination rates and internal spread occurring anyway) it’s useful in keeping the caseload down somewhat with a lower burden for entry.

Abbott tests are about $25 a piece cost burden on the Urgent care. PCR total cost buden on the lab.
Anyone who's showing up at this urgent care is getting a COVID test, whether rapid or antigen. I don't think they're having to staff extra or turn anyone away because a few people elected for a PCR. I came in at the same time as a woman with a baby, she got the rapid and I got the PCR, we waited the exact same amount of time until testing.
You waited the same amount of time. The processing time after you left is a factor and the number of patients they can schedule is a factor you have no clue about.

Germany and other countries accept rapid
Germany now also requires vaccination unless you want to quarantine.

Me and DW had COVID symptoms in December and both our rapids came out negative. Thankfully took the PCR and got positive results. Personally think the rapids do more harm than good.

Then again, avromie7 posted that his wife’s positive rapid made them not attend a Simcha 2 days before their (positive) PCRs came back, so there’s that. If people are going to go about life without a positive PCR, and PCRs take 24-48 hours for results, then positive rapids will help somewhat mitigate the effects (especially since they are most contagious at that point).  But yeah I agree I kept hearing “I’m fine, I was negative” only to find out they meant a rapid with despite obvious COVID symptoms.

Doesn't change the fact that they accept rapid.

This urgent care doesn’t schedule. To me it was obvious the manager was trying to push the rapid, I assumed about why that is and might have been wrong on both accounts (that he was pushing the rapids, and that it was motivated by $$).

I do know for sure of a medical practice in NYC (not an urgent care) that prefers to process labs in house because they make more on it, idk the details about how the financials work out.

But would help explain why they’re accepted- it’s not on the basis of the rapid alone, it’s the fact that the person is vaccinated. The rapid is just an extra help in lowering the odds the person is infected.

Where has common sense gone? If you have symptoms you need to stay away from other people no matter what any test says. It doesn't matter if it's covid or some other cold virus, you're going to make someone else catch what you have (obviously not seasonal allergies). This is not complicated.

It's like those videos of covid deniers storming into Target to cough on and lick everything in the store. Even without covid that would be disgusting.

Everywhere?
I don't think any country accepts rapids besides for the US.
UK accepts rapids.
Germany is very big into rapids (the only country I'm aware of that has Delta but no lockdown and no major wave), but I'm not sure for what it is acceptable.

B) for the average person who had covid (especially in the first wave), when was the last time they checked for antibodies?
If a fully vaccinated person tests negative for antibodies does the CDC recommend they get vaccinated again?

But they probably have better masking than the US. And likely higher vaccine acceptance too.

Germany overall vaccination rate is 56%, so I don't know how much that difference is.

They avoided the wave by vaccine passports, high quality masking, and quarantine compliance. More freedom than the inevitable lockdown that will happen in the Red south.

I believe they require(d) N95 masks, at least Lufthansa did. Am I correct?

FFP2, KN95, N95

“Generally, the only exceptions to this rule are children under six years of age and persons who are not able to wear a mask for medical reasons.

(NB: on flights to the USA, all passengers, including children over the age of two, are required to wear face masks.)

We will only accept an exemption to the compulsory wearing of a mask on presentation of an approved negative Covid-19 PCR test result (no more than 48 hours old at the start of the journey) and a doctor’s signature on the corresponding Lufthansa Group medical certificate form.“
