The issue is these were his nutcase supporters. This is who he caters to and eggs on. When you say "fault of the right" it is him who is that right.

Now before anyone gets their panties in a knot the D's have nutcases also but different types. The big difference here is you can't say BLM/Antifa are X's supporters. This was 100% Trump supporters!!!

Not back to the issue of the text. They are getting hammered because the text showed real concern for what was going on but publicly, they were downplaying it or making up BS crap like antifa.

This is where the two political sides differ. One is the view you just posted, and the other is they knew he was at least partially responsible and needed to end it. These were "his" people he sent to the capital.

Asking Trump to use his influence to stop the riot isn't the same as saying he's responsible for it.

Respectfully disagree, when you bring the people incite them for months tell them to “stop it” and then refuse to call for calm then you effectively own it. Especially as commander in chief there’s a certain responsibility for the commonwealth associated.

I think that they have their heads deep enough in the sand to genuinely feel that the supporters went to far yet believe that Trump was totally clean. That is what I read in the texts. They are political and will give over the slant they believe to be beneficial for their side.

Even if you take the most pro stance regarding the people sending the messages, it shows that even those on Trump's side were begging him to speak up to de-escalate. Even if they didn't think he was at fault for instigating or inciting it in the first place, they believed - as we all did at the time - he had the power to end it. One problem, he didn't want to.

Firstly, lol. I mean is your question really why politicians are playing politics? Do I take it you've never heard of a vindictive congressional hearing against a Dem being taken too far by Rs?

And if the "power of congress" is so incredibly sacred, we're talking about the SITTING PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!
