Ok I am confused. If it shows them in such a glowing light as you pointed out then what is the issue?
Private texts are private texts, regardless of what are contained inside. I can think of at least three reasons off the top of my head why someone in their position may not want those texts read:
1. They like to maintain the guise of media personnel, not activists
2. The invasion of their privacy lowers their projected persona in public perspective. I can think, maybe subconsciously, "I used to think Laura Ingram was infallible. But she's a human just like the rest of us."
3. Some people - even if they are wrong - may be upset at them for the content of the texts. Even if you think they are just crazy morons, their views equal ratings and ad revenue.
I think you are missing what they said and did publicly at the time.
I was not watching Fox during those days so I'm not sure what they said and did publicly.
