Lets say i would buy a 500 gift card using my AAdvantage CC (earning 500 miles) and sell it on ebay for lets say 498.00 (and take a 2 dollar loss), would this be a smart way to accrue miles?

No, you'll also pay ebay seller and paypal fees.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I think that gc sales prices on ebay and other sites are a bit lower than 99% of face. The highest I have seen (in prior brief searches) was about 90-95% of face value.
