Can someone clarify what the fees would be if used for a domestic flight on AA?

or tlv-lhr

I believe its 1- fuel surcharge 4x whatever the amount is per Long haul flight

Ok I just logged in and took whatever was available in coach not much at that but it came back as 65k in miles and a total of $556.70 for all fees and taxes. Id say for a few hundred more I could probabaly get the exact flights and dates I want and earn some EQMs as well. Although TLV isnt a place where EQMs can be earned cheaply but is a place where its worth burning your miles for a free tkt. eg with CO usually it will cost EWR-TLV 9-12 cents per EQM when buying atkt, I can usually get NY-LA for 6 cents and under. So it make sense to buy the LA tkt and use miles to TLV

Id rather pay 10 cents a miles and earn some EQMs to TLV then blow $556 and get nothing for it, but if someone is strapped for $$$ and needs to get over to TLV then ist still not bad under thsoe considerations and thats if he cant get a free tkt via a US Carrier where I think CO would charge appx $60. heres where I Agree with Dan where the BA miles might not be a good deal

Basically if a person will fly on BA you dont want to connect anywhere as the fuel surcharge is a per flight charge the more BA flights the more youd pay in FS.

Best would be to use the BA miles for an AA itin

Agreed, but bear in mind that you can't fly AA transatlantic, so your redemption options are mostly domestic, which is usually a poor use of miles.

Again, 50K-100K miles for $75 is great, just bear in mind that these miles are nowhere near as useful as AA/CO, etc. miles.

Dont forget theres always Argentina or Brazil or any Carribean place AA flys to, or any place in Mexico on MX which is now a OW Member, add some miles and hello Asia on AA or CX in Biz

. Now combine this with  free Hotels from SPG and it cant be beat. BTW Iguazu Falls makes Niagara look like a water faucet so Ive been told, havent made it there as of yet, but the flight from BA isnt cheap and no EQMs or RDMs I believe but theres a *W Cat5 used to be a Cat2 inside the park with views of the Falls, this is in Argentina, where its going into Summer as we go into Winter

Im sure anyone who gets the CC and the 100k will get their $75 worth out of it , even if using it for 4 Domestic tkts

for the person who only wants TLV and cant afford the $1000+ to go at least they will save $500+

Biz to TLV on BA 130k in Miles and $756.70

now CO is $41.70 whether in Coach or BF and its 75k for coach 10k more then BA but BA is $510 more, and its 115k for CO Biz BA is 15k more and $710 more as well

BTW CO will be more if you will be connecting 1 way or both ways at an Intl Hub, be it YYZ for AC or any where in Europe with LHR being teh most expensive, also it will be a few bucks more if youd be making any stops here in teh US, so a EWR-PHL-TLV (the PHL-TLV on US) wil cost a few $ more in taxes

So heres where I agree with Dan that if TLV is where you want to use your miles. But $756 for a so called Free (yea right) Biz tkt isnt too shaby although I prefer $41.70 of CO better. Also if a person will stay a day or 2 in London it helps but then again with CO it can be done by using BD (BMI) to go LHR-TLV

He said 65k miles+$557 for coach, it's more for Business/First.

Like I said using BA miles for BA trips is hard to justify.

except like I said say someone has a Wedding to attend and $1100 is a tremendous amount for them to part with, then $557 isnt such a bad deal. Cant remember the last time I saw a tkt to TLV from the US for $557. But finding space is another headache

I Agree with You using BA miles for a BA tkt isnt the best way to use the Miles for most people

I never said this isn't a worthwhile deal for the $75 annual fee.

word is that the $75 isnt charged for the 1st yr (Thanks to posters on FlyerTalk for that info)

didnt check since you hadnt asked that but Ive found that generally that is the case

Also depending where a person is IB (Iberia) flys into TLV and might be cheaper on the fees, but its an A-320 to/from TLV and I dont expect a real Biz class seat and personally I wouldnt want to be on a 320 for that length of time in Coach. Did it once on AF and that was once too many times for me. Tried it on AZ from MXP but I was in Biz while I heard the moans coming out of the back, wasnt a real; biz seat either

bout the only thing Id do is IST-TLV as its a 45 min flight on a narrow body

So is there any definitive knowledge on the tax/fees for booking an AA ticket?
Also, how about a Iberia ticket from NYC-MAD-TLV roundtrip?
or other Oneworld airlines?
And did anyone consider using a combination of BA miles (to get to Europe, perhaps on Finnair, Malev or Iberia) and then AA miles (to get to TLV, on ElAl or the above Oneworld airlines), or vice versa.
Any sense to that?

Also, if one books a USA-EUrope award ticket with AA and a Europe-TLV award ticket with BA and the flights show on booking engines as valid connectors, is it possible to have the inteneraries linked post-booking so the bags go straight thorough?

ELAL is not a Member of OW therefore you cant use miles except for AA miles, not even sure if say a NY-LHR on AA and LHR-TLV on ELAL is doable when using AA miles. It wasnt when DL was with ELAL it had to be all ELAL both ways

I believe Malev doesnt fly into the US except during peak times, late spring to the fall Finnair doesnt go into TLV for yrs already

Its not only that the bags go straight thru but w/o it you wont be able to take 2 bags w/o having to pay. I dont think AA has started yet charging for a 2nd bag Intl yet. Most likely you will have problems at TLV when leaving and they wont let 2 bags go for $0.

also w/o them being connected if something delays you you can kiss the other Good-bye and might be stuck unless you purchase a very expensive tkt to fly to your destination

You can do JFK-LHR on AA and LHR-TLV on El Al using AA miles.
In fact you'll even save miles by routing that way (40K one way) off-peak rather than fly JFK-TLV nonstop (45K one way)
