Does anybody here do that combo? would love to try it but having some difficulties.
1) Getting the same number to ring on both
2) Getting text messages on both
Getting text messages on both, there is a work around to use a tablet at home with icloud. The phone number issue is the greater issue.

Use google voice as your primary number

I believe you can use Verizon messages plus which comes on their flip, and can be downloaded onto your smartphone, and then it'll show up for both, as long as imessage is turned off I believe..

thanks. ive tried verizon messages and its a bit spotty. i would prefer a tablet at home with imessage

why do you need service on both phones
can the smartphone be connected to wifi while at work ? then you can use imessage/whatsapp and any other app on the phone
you just need to keep filp phone with you for calls and if you have airpods or some type of headphones then you wont even notice the difference

Is there any service like Google voice that still fowards texts but I can make calls and access voice-mail on my tablet?

I just carry around my flip even when I take my smartphone. I don't even know the phone number of my smartphone and never hooked it up to my car's bluetooth. The most typical reaction I get from non Jews starts with "they still make those?" and after I tell them I don't like the distractions of carrying it around they usually end with "I wish I could do that"
