Combining Gift Cards?
« on: August 31, 2021, 10:29:56 AM »
Is there any free way to combine Visa or MC gift cards into one larger denomination card? For example, combine 5 $200 cards into one $1,000 card?

Loading them into your PayPal balance and then using PPK?

I think that the crowning achievement of MS is finding a seamless and free way to loop spent money back in to your account. How would increasing the denomination of a GC help MS without a means to recover the spend?

To my knowledge, PP allows loading balance only through bank accounts.

That's a fair point, but it is usually easier to liquidate larger denomination gift cards (cashiers tend to get uncomfortable if you're splitting the transaction across multiple cards). Of course, as you pointed out, if you don't have any means to liquidate in the first place, then it becomes moot.

Yup, definitely easier to liquidate. I'm hoping to use them to pay taxes, but my town charges a flat fee on each transaction, so I'd obviously be better off making as few transactions as possible.
