It's got to be your Internet speed/filter slowing the connection. Call your provider and have them do a hard reset on your modem.
1.4 gb is not a big file-I've downloaded complete seasons of TV shows-think 120 gb- in just a few hrs.

why would you say that? Depend how fast the site he's downloading from is as well-

The reason your download is 1.4GB, is because I'm assuming they're giving you a 86-64 version (both in one, so you can choose which to install). The corresponding MSDN file is:

Had it happen before where the internet filter allows the connection but then kills after it starts downloading.
It also depends on the seeders if one is torrenting but I assume we have basic working knowledge of all that...

Alright peeps, I got it installed and running tx to DH DR, and DanH,

It was downloaded in about 35 min,
Just never dealt with an iso file so had to Google that for instructions.

When I entered my activation key I was asked if I wanna activated it through the internet or by phone, the internet option didn't work for me ( kept on saying try again later ), so had to do it by phone ( never entered sooo many numbers

).

If you don't mind me asking, how'd you deal with the ISO? I just wanted to make sure you didn't install any extra malware by accident.

Best is a strong word. But it's a perfectly good way of doing it. That's the way I do it. The only tip I have, is once 7Zip is open, hit F9, and then use the built-in interface to extract. It skips the temporary files step.

It's much better, in my opinion, to mount it with something like Daemon Tools. Unless you have Windows 8 which has iso mounting built in.
