if you haven't heard of it then it is not for you. Seriously.

Here's an explanation form Micorosft (:-\ :o) https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff793434.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
I'm looking for a simple and cheapest way possible. Ready to pay a little.

So Dan suggested two things. Have you already tried the 1st one (something very clear) that you are going to the 2nd one (which you don't even know what it is)?

I thought it was one long answer, get a key from eBay and activate . . .
Now that I understand from you it's 2 things, what does getting a key mean ? Code ?

In the Volume Licensing Service Center, I'm looking at a list of licenses purchased for a nonprofit (through TechSoup). Is there a way to tell which licenses are in use and which are available?
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Yes, by me in VLSC says the following. (by a windows 10 license)

Activations or Seats
215/300

just checked - the same by office, though this was not bought through techsoup.

Thanks!

It's so interesting, for me I see 4 entries, and for Activation or Seats they say:
1/50
0/50
2/50
0/50

Does that mean I have 200 licenses? I only purchased 3 or 4 copies of MS Office.

Thanks!

How does the volume licensing work?

I have through Techsoup a discounted Microsoft Office account.

I have discounted MS Office 2016, I have to log into the Volume Licensing Center to get the license keys and download installation files.

I have a word document with addresses on labels that was created through a mail merge, but I don't have the original excel sheet.  How can I convert it back to excel?

Not so easy. You might have success by copying the contents and pasting it as text, then either doing find and replace with line breaks, or converting text to table (in word) to get each 'label' onto one row, then pasting it into google spreadsheets and using regexextract to split the data into columns.

Why not bring both up to 2016 which does not require an active Internet connection (except for the initial setup and activation) and you'll both be on the latest version.

You can get a license for a couple of bucks on ebay but you would need 2 so at most you'll be out about $15
Why do you need to buy two keys?

This the right idea?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Microsoft-Office-2016-Professional-Plus-product-key-32-64-bit-/123216830044

The "key card" things they sell for $5 are not the right item?

Yes.

Both can be good. But the download is obviously easier and faster.

How is it possible to obtain a legitimate Microsoft license for $5 when it retails for $150+?

LibreOffice is considered to be better than OpenOffice.
