« on: October 07, 2021, 11:22:09 AM »
We need a reliable doorbell with a range of about 300 feet.

For a warehouse.

Anyone here have something that’s worked well for a few years?

TIA.

Smart doorbell attached to the wifi and a bunch of Google home minis.

I dont think there is any, you can put up good cameras and a simple wifi doorbell for the notification/communication at the door

hi, can use some guidance please. looking to get a doorbell/camera for the house. here are features im looking for

-notifies my phone that someone is at the door (by someone pressing the button AND just from noticing someone dropping off a package/loitering)
-can connect to a chime or something in the house that can ring (aside for the phone)
-wireless/battery powered
-i can talk back
-it can connect to two phones (me and my wife would each have the app)
-it is always recording and saves the video for viewing for a reasonable amount of time (atleast 30 days)
-no monthly subscribtion

price is not a issue, as im not paying for it  :)

i tried searching on amazon and i am not very tech savvy and started getting a headache from all the choices

any help would be appreciated. THANKS

I think something like this can do most of it https://www.amazon.com/eufy-Security-1080p-Grade-Resolution-Detection/dp/B08DXD8LSR

(Besides the "always recording" part. I do not think you can reasonably expect any DIY battery thingy to always record and saves such vast amounts of footage.)

thank you. so to be constantly saving the footage i would need to get a wired one or just a plain old camera that plugs in and connects to wifi? aside from the doorbell?

Correct, a more traditional camera system/NVR with hard drive space.

can you recommend a basic no frills one? just plug in,hang on wall, connect to wifi, and it will save at least 30 days of video...

I didn't test them all, but I think it does. And I found it much more reliable and quick then the others that I personally tried.

Perhaps others here can weigh in. @Yo ssi @Euclid

ETA: see more info about it in this thread: https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=133703.0

ETA 2: I'm not sure they have a battery-only option. Would need to look into that.

Why does it need to be battery powered?

Generally any battery powered one won't record continuously

just easier and simpler, im not handy at all and dont want to have to call an electrician to intstall.

if wired is so much better and would be able to record continuously and save the footage, i then would considr wired

Go with wired, you should have the wires there by your old doorbell. It's fairly straightforward to set up.

Was just looking into the google nest. The battery powered version can also be be wired. However it still only records events as opposed to 24/7.

Biggest annoyance is that you need a subscription to keep data for 10/30 days.

Headphones or security key. They also make a nice smoke alarm

On a different note, does anyone know if it's possible to set up the ubiquity G4 Doorbell Pro to be Shabbos compatible?

-can connect to a chime or something in the house that can ring (aside for the phone)
