Murphy has been criticized by anti-Semites and some in the media for being 'sold' to Lakewood (even though it was so not true). If he doesn't get Lakewood's votes, all politicians will say that it's not worth it to do favors for Lakewood.

That's a basic understanding of what they mean by "hakaras hatov"
Or maybe the politicians will finally say they need to work with us if they want our vote again, we're not going to be happy with a couple of bones or not being as bad as the other guy.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Or they'll say that Ocean County in Republican so it's not worth investing anything there.

Can someone please explain this "hakaras hatov"?

We need to thank him for shutting down our economy and for keeping us locked in

If coumo would have run for re-election in New York, you would have seen the same from our New York "askanim" and "community leaders" and rabbis

Lakewood voted for democrats many times. Our willingness to switch sides is very valuable politically.

Think Malcolm, Gary, Howard. Yes its good to have people on all sides. Contribution$ help, but bringing in votes is also part of how the backscratching works.

Be realistic of what to expect from a public official. Watch for instance one Jackson Twp meeting and then evaluate how publicly an official can help Lakewood without fear. Look at the big picture, it’s difficult as we don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. And especially hard when you think all askanim are FOI.

Yes one may think its just the VAAD needing to say what they need to say whether results actually materialize. But the urgency they are portraying now. Seems they are getting direct communication from Trenton that Murphy expects more and there could be repercussions.

What we hopefully can all agree on is that turnout is basics regardless of whom you vote for and not showing up is like the guy who shows up to nobody’s simchas but then expects people to turn up for them.

Voting for a democrat is a total contradiction to jewish religious beliefs, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

BTW, even if you decide that there is too much controversy and you want to avoid voting for governor, go out and vote anyways, skipping (or writing someone in) for the top slot.

I'll explain why.

Lakewood is always judged by the maximum turnout it got. This year has the potential to break the record, as polling places are reporting very high turnout so far (mine told me it was crazy so far). There has been a huge voting drive the last few months, and I think we can hit really high numbers, which will put us on the political map much more than we've ever been before. Your vote counts toward the turnout even if you skip the governor slot. So IMO it is extremely important for everyone to vote today.

Seems like many people won't get a chance to vote. Long lines in many locations and only 21 minutes left. Some districts have short lines, though.

Pretty sure that if you are on line at closing time they have to let you vote.

Just sharing some data, so when the Lakewood numbers come in, people should have a point of reference:

In 2017, the last gubernatorial election, 12,057 ballots were cast in Lakewood, representing 26.09 percent of registered voters. Murphy got  5,758 votes to Guadagno's 5,644.

In 2013, the previous gubernatorial election, 14,921 ballots were cast in Lakewood, representing 35.9 percent of registered voters.

In 2009, when Christie defeated Corzine, 19,171 ballots were cast, 50.55 percent of registered voters.

In 2020, when the election was all mail-in-ballots and Trump was on the ballot, 37,677 ballots were cast in Lakewood, representing 70.86 percent of registered voters.

Yup. They let all the people outside still come in. Definitely a lot of motivated voters this cycle.
