One thing that bothers me tremendously about Murphy is that he seems embarrassed of his connection to the Jewish community. IINM, he has yet to post anything on social media about his visit to Lakewood, and his visit was not disclosed to reporters before.

It's not representative of Lakewood voters, as many of the yeshivaleit who follow the VAAD's recommendation don't have access to TLS, but it still is telling (if there is no cheating involved). This poll currently shows Jack with 82.46%, while the same poll earlier this month showed him with 78.15%, so the needle is moving in his direction...

I don't follow politics. Why does the vaad want Murphy and why do you want ciattarelli?

The first part of my question I think I can guess the answer the second I don't know

I was driving in nj and I saw a sign saying if you don’t like taxes this is not your state or something similar. I mean seriously who campaigns like that.

Read the shopper it will answer the second
I can't talk for the VAAD as I see no good of Murphy so either the believe he is winning anyways so you might as well be on his side, or they made some deal with him

The VAAD and Avi Schnall have a working relationship with Murphy, and they have gotten certain things from him. Those things are not insignificant, but they are not necessarily the things Lakewood cares about most.

Things the VAAD/Schnall got:
Hands-off approach to Lakewood during most of Covid
Funding for LSTA every year (though not without teeth-pullilng)
Intervention by State to Facebook about Rise Up, plus strong stance on anti-Semitism
Increased funding for private school security, technology, special-ed, etc.
A good line of communication, so that they can bring potential issues directly to the governor's top brass

Most important things Lakewood residents really want:
Rabbi Eisemann not to be hounded
Route 9 widened
School funding formula fixed
Property taxes lowered

Jack Ciatterelli has promised to address the top priority items, though nobody really knows what he'll actually do once he's elected. The VAAD sees Murphy as a safe choice, because Ciatterelli could be worse, while much of Lakewood sees Murphy as not having done enough, and thus they'd rather bet on an alternative.

That's my assessment of the prevailing sentiment about the two choices.

I personally have not voted yet, and I plan to wait until the final Monmouth poll is released later this week.

If it shows that Murphy has a safe lead (5-6 points or more), I think I'll vote for Murphy, because voting against him can backfire. If Ciatterelli is neck-in-neck, I'll probably vote Ciatterelli. If Murphy has a 3-4 point advantage, I'll have to do serious thinking before I vote.

Most of what Ciattarelli is promising he will not be able to deliver. He needs the state assembly and senate to agree and they are both majority democrat

A governor has the power to get most standard stuff done by making deals with legislators. Remember, they need him to sign their bills, so they are usually happy to introduce and pass a bill the governor requests. Unless it's a hot button topic, like the millionaire's tax.

The real question is if he'll still want to push these stuff after the election.
