Brewer Co, campaigned to recruit they got a response yes we will do it but on Kosher terms, they did have jewish volunteers but wasn't run with halacha in mind

When I was in yeshiva in Monsey (a few decades ago), I used to watch sports games in the fire station and got to know a few of the firefighters; a large portion of the firemen there were OTD (before that term was coined), or extremely modern orthodox. So I can understand why there's sensitivity around having a real kosher atmosphere - it certainly wasn't, at least at that point, a good place for a "heimish" person.

Ah true; I "mistyped" - my thought process initially was that "semi-observant firefighters are likely not being so makpid on halacha", but as I was typing my train of thought led me to "not a kosher atmosphere"...
